Discovering My Purpose

How did I find my purpose?
Finding my purpose hasn’t been a single moment-it’s been a lifelong relationship with curiosity.
From early on, I made a quiet commitment to explore myself and the world around me. I followed what lit me up. I stayed in play. I said yes to experiences, hobbies, tools, and creative expressions-even when they didn’t “make sense” at the time. Over the years, I unknowingly built a library of passions-things that made me feel alive, connected, and deeply myself.
All the pieces I’d been carrying found their way into form through my art business, Surf Joose. Surf Joose isn’t just a business-it’s an extension of my spirit. It’s where art, ocean, expression, community, philanthropy, and love all meet. It’s a space for co-creation, for play, and for channeling something bigger than myself. For a long time, the biggest hurdle was allowing myself to identify as an artist. Once I dissolved that block, it felt like a divine faucet turned on-I tapped into something that had always been there, just waiting for permission to flow.
But truthfully, this clarity came through contrast.
I was moving through a season of deep loss-grief from a relationship ending and from stepping away from my career in brewing, which had once defined me. Everything familiar was stripped away, and I was left with what felt like a blank canvas.
And in that space, I asked myself: Where does my love go now?
The answer was creativity.
I poured everything into creating-not because I had a plan, but because I needed to heal. Surf Joose was born from love, but it was built through grief, resilience, and a deep commitment to finding light again. And somewhere along the way, things clicked. I looked back and realized I hadn’t just been surviving-I had built something meaningful, something aligned, something true.
That’s when I knew I had stepped into a new layer of purpose.
Let yourself be bad at things long enough to discover what you love
Trust that nothing you’re drawn to is wasted-it’s all part of your path
Going inward can feel scary-but it can also be exhilarating. Everything you’re seeking is in the places you haven’t fully explored yet.
For me, purpose came from a combination of curiosity, intention, and a refusal to give up on creating a life that feels abundant-
not just for me, but for others too.
This is the one life I get.
And I’m devoted to living it fully, creatively, and in alignment with what lights me up-and trusting that when I do, the world meets me there. Best, Juice
